TEACHING ASSISTANT

A voluntary Teaching Assistant will work in conjunction with the staff and will be responsible for:

• Teaching English, Mathematics and any other subject that volunteers wish to assist in at the local primary and secondary schools which the children of the orphan centre attend as well as at Baraka Technical College
• Coordination of our after-school and holiday education programme
• Assessment of children’s academic progress
• Identification of children’s individual strengths and weaknesses
• Assisting in developing teaching plans and being creative with the available resources

Required skills:

• Teaching qualifications (e.g. TOEFL, motor vehicle mechanics, motor vehicle electrics, garment making skills)
• Patience with children and youths
• Self-motivation and creativity
