OUR MISSION AND VISION

Mission Statement

Baraka Technical College (BTC) is a registered, non-profit, Christian youth centre providing physical, educational and spiritual assistance to underprivileged children and adolescents. By supplying youths with guidance, counseling and vocational training as well as a sustainable home the college aims to fight poverty and give hope to the needy.
Self-reliant and well skilled graduates are released to help overcome social burdens, contribute to the community and to earn their living. The mission comprises not only the combat against poverty but also the rescue of abandoned and neglected orphans. Baraka Technical College ensures their livelihood by covering basic needs such as food, medication, education and shelter in order to protect young boys and girls from loitering in market streets and resorting to prostitution or drugs.
As a partner and cooperator of community groups, churches and government agencies the college aspires to raise awareness of the distress and attract more partners, volunteers and donors to promote further network development and incite support.

The Vision

Baraka Technical College’s vision is “to be a leading vocational training and orphan centre committed to improve lives of orphans and underprivileged youths in the society at risk.”

To achieve this vision the subsequent objectives have been set:
• Expansion of facilities in order to enroll and accommodate more students (a dining room and class rooms). Consequently the college could shorten the waiting list, be less selective and provide the admitted boys and girls with more living and learning space.
• Acquisition of storage water tank for the collection of rain in order to save time and funds. Since currently the college is compelled to manage a 7 kilometer distance in order to fetch water resulting in an expense of at least half a million Kenya Shillings.
• Provision of clothes for the orphans especially school uniforms.
• Introduction of additional classes such as a computer and gas welding class.
• Establishment of the first public library in the community.
• Equipment with further training materials for all offered classes e.g. sewing machines, motor vehicle repair kits, educational materials, books, computers and monitors etc. to give our youth the opportunity to acquire the knowledge in order to cope with a continuously changing world.
• Broadening of the college’s network by means of acquisition of partners as well as donors and attraction of volunteers from around the world.
• Enablement of business start-ups by supplying graduates with various tools.
